Court Reporting Institute of Kansas City

A Certificate of Achievement will be presented to those students who successfully complete the following:

  • Pass one (1) five-minute dictated test at 225 words per minute on 2-Voice testimony with a minimum 95% accuracy as representative of the Kansas Certified Court Reporter’s Licensing Examination.

A Certificate of Completion will be presented to those students who successfully complete the following requirements:

  • 2-Voice Testimony – Pass three (3) five-minute dictated tests at 225 words per minute with minimum 95% accuracy.
  • Jury Charge – Pass three (3) five-minute dictated tests at 200 words per minute with minimum 95% accuracy.
  • Literary – Pass three (3) five-minute dictated tests at 180 words per minute with a minimum 95% accuracy.

(These are the same timed testing standards used by the National Court Reporters Association, RPR standards).

  • Internship – Student shall complete all internship requirements as outlined in the internship course description.
  • SAP – Student shall have maintained all satisfactory academic progress requirements, including attendance and advancement thresholds.
  • Financial Obligations – Student shall ensure any and all remaining financial obligations to CRIKC are satisfied.

Credit for Previous Training or Work Experience

Court Reporting transfer students are placed in the speedbuilding class determined by their ability to pass one five-minute shorthand test with 95% accuracy. Once speed level is determined, the student will receive credits applicable up to that skill level. Transfer of Court Reporting Institute of Kansas City credits is always at the discretion of the receiving school, generally depending on comparability or curricula and may depend on comparability of accreditation.
